Kate Hudson, who just released her own health and wellness book, Pretty Happy, revealed her health secrets in an interview in SELF magazine.
1. Be ready to change your lifestyle and be consistent with it.
She shares that to have a fitter lifestyle, you must accept change and be ready for it. This also includes switching up workout routines, so she won't get bored. "I really switch it up. "I’ll do Tracy Anderson, I’ll do Body by Simone, I do everything," she tells SELF.
But she also explains that pilates is her favorite workout, "Nothing, literally nothing, makes me feel like I’m back to my body more than pilates." She loves working out in the morning to energize her throughout the day—so, girl, you have to set the alarm and commit to exercising every day. And when she's super busy, she squeezes in a fast workout. "I’m one of those people who, it’ll be early in the morning and I’ll be in a robe getting my hair done, and I’ll use my Hot5 app—and do push-ups for five minutes," she divulges.
2. Be mindful of your diet but don't be overly obsessed.
She preferes to eat five small meals a day to fuel herself. Hudson has also chooses plant-based meals over meat. "I don’t remember the last time I ate a steak," she tells.
Hudson also clarifies that she knows how to let loose when it comes to food. "If I want to go out and eat at a restaurant with amazing food, I’ll do that, like, once a week where I’m not thinking about it. I want to indulge! I want to do things that are not necessarily healthy sometimes," she confesses.
3. Don't mind the haters and shamers.
"We’ve been programmed to feel like we’re under this great obligation as women to look and be a certain way. And that’s not our fault. That’s what culture and society have gifted us as women," she says. "Thank you but no thank you." Hudson believes that your mind must be healthy for your body to be healthy, too. Surround yourself with people who will support your fitness journey.
You also need to learn to loosen up and have fun—stop being so serious and strict with your life. "The whole point is that life doesn’t ever get easy. And so you have to learn how to enjoy it," she says.
