Many restaurants offer kiddie menus for their younger customers, but according to a new study featured on The Guardian, many of these options may be quite unhealthy, as they offer calorie-laden burgers, fries, and chips.
Researchers from University of Edinburgh worked with around 2,000 five-year-olds and looked into the kids' eating habits.
They found that children who eat differently from their parents usually get less nutrition than they actually need.
“It is likely that in cases where children eat different foods, they are eating a less nutritious option. This is known to be the case with kids' menus in restaurants, so children are best off eating the same foods as their parents,” says study author Valeria Skafida says in a statement published on NineMSN.com,
It may be time for restaurants to quit kiddie menus, and instead, start offering the same kind of food they offer adults.
