Instead of tiring yourself out and hurting your back doing 1,000 crunches to get those abs, why not try stomach vacuuming? It sounds weird, we know, but it's actually a breathing exercise that has been used for yoga and Pilates.

Rich Sturla, owner and director of personal training at Results Health & Performance in England, explains that stomach vacuuming activates and strengthens the transverse abdominis, your deepest abdominal muscle, by contracting it.
