Singing sensation Charice was shortchanged in the second season of TV series Glee due to an alleged rivalry between her and co-star Lea Michele, a show source tells the New York Post. Charice's character, Sunshine Corazon, was originally meant to be Rachel Berry's (Lea Michele) newest competition in the realm of singing. After Charice's big number with Lea in the first episode, however, she only appeared twice more toward the end of the season for a total of three episodes."Charice was signed for a minimum of five episodes and did a press junket with [fellow new star] Chord Overstreet," the source is quoted as saying. "She had a big debut, but things changed and they didn’t put her back in. The word is, Lea is the big star, and producers want to keep her happy.”
A Glee spokesman denied the allegations and said Charice appeared in less episodes because of her jam-packed schedule and changes in the story arc. "Lea is a consummate pro who couldn’t be more welcoming of other powerhouse singers on the show, from Kristin Chenoweth to Idina Menzel, who is set to reprise her role as Rachel’s birth mom this fall," he is quoted as saying on the New York Post.
Despite the rumors, Lea and Charice have both been congenial to each other in previous interactions. Lea Tweeted Charice on March 9 saying, "Look who's back!! @officialcharice!!! So happy!!!" along with their photo taken together on set, to which Charice replied saying, "You're so sweet. <3"
