She is one of the most talented Filipinas ever to grace the international singing scene. 1. RISE ABOVE YOUR CHALLENGES
From a father who left their family when she was very young, to having almost nothing to live on, Charice took on these challenges and used them as inspirations for a better life. No trial is too great or too difficult if you're determined to create a better life for yourself.
2. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR ADVICE
Charice gets a lot of guidance from her mother, who frequently accompanies her on her overseas trips. And while she has managers and agents to guide her career, Charice still turns to her mother for help when it comes to making decisions. Life will offer a lot learning experiences, but taking advice from someone wiser and who has your best interests at heart will give you extra confidence.
3. STAY CLOSE TO THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP YOU GROUNDED
Charice has never strayed far from her humble beginnings, still keeping in contact with people from her old neighborhood and never forgetting the life lessons taught by her mother, Raquel. Success can easily go to your head and inflate your ego, but the people who truly love you will keep your feet on the ground.
4. BE THANKFUL
This young superstar now sees everything she touches turn to gold, with the support and backing of superstars such as Oprah Winfrey, David Foster, and Celine Dion who famously invited Charice to sing with her during a concert in Madison Square Garden. Charice humbly recognizes that her talent would have gone unnoticed without the help of these celebrities as well as her fans.
5. BE PROUD OF YOUR ROOTS
Charice never passes up the chance to let people know how proud she is of being Filipino: "Wala akong mahanap na reason para ikahiya ko maging Pilipino," she tells Good Housekeeping. "Proud ako na Pilipino ako, and gusto ko lang ipakita sa kanila na ganito yung talent ng Asian at ng Pilipino."
