Lou Cadawas Sabella, mother of three, inherited her home from her father, who built the house back in the 1960s. "Ang saya ko dito (I'm so happy here)," she says. "This is where I can lose myself in my crafts, kasi ang crafts ko madami, eh." But, she told Real Living, she thought her home didn't look as appealing as she wanted it to be. She wanted more beautiful surroundings but wasn't too sure how she could make that happen. At a loss at how to liven up her house, she wrote to Real Living and hoped to win a home makeover.
Real Living stepped in with designer Vivian Gacad and tried to resolve the dilemma of combining Lou's two passions--antiques and Coca-Cola collectibles. Vivian was guided by these two elements plus the natural joy that emanated from the owner.
The result of the nine-day makeover, featured in the October 2011 issue of Real Living, is a home that mirrors the owner's zest for life. Coke collectibles are scattered all over the house, along with the antiques that are the owner's pride and joy. To say that Lou was overwhelmed is an understatement. After the initial shock of seeing her beautiful new home, she only had this to say: "Hindi ko alam na gaganda ng ganito ang bahay ko (I never thought that my house could be this beautiful)!"
