Though simple in structure, the house showcased below possesses delicate nuances that function well in Southeast-Asian weather. There’s a great use of vertical space via the double-height living area—the ground level flows into the second floor, allowing warm air to rise to naturally cool the structure. Even the foyer has the same double-height ceiling, which gives guests an instant sense of what they can expect inside.

“Once you enter through the door, you instantly feel that the house isn’t tight,” explains Joel Muñoz, the house's architect. “I don’t like anything massive. Everything has to be light.”
