CLOY initially stands for Crash Landing on You, that ultra-popular K-drama starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. These days, however, it also stands for something inspired by it—a business called Cordillera Landing on You, which directly sells and ships crops and other local goods from Cordillera farmers to Metro Manila consumers.
"Napag-isipan namin na why don’t we try to help, and at the same time, earn a little money," says Teddy Baguilat, Jr., a local from Ifugao who acts as the “Captain Ri” of Cordillera Landing on You. “We’re bringing products from Cordillera to land in the city—in Metro Manila.”
He further explains that the group practices fair trade by buying products from farmers at the correct price. “Hindi namin binabarat ‘yong magsasaka. Most of our prices are below supermarket prices.” The initiative also provides farmers much-needed transportation capabilities, which have been hard to come by due to the disruption brought about by COVID-19.
