Looks like the rest of the world is finally catching up to what we've always known—that when it comes to carbs, rice is king.

According to Prevention.com, it's the next carbohydrate superstar, rising along with the popularity of gluten-free diets, and slowly replacing wheat in packaged goods.

"Rice is low on the allergenic scale, and its neutral flavor works with everything," registered dietician Julieanna Haver, author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Gluten-Free Vegan Cooking, tells the website.

New findings published in the journal of Food and Nutrition Sciences also show that rice eaters are more likely to have healthier diets than non-rice eaters. For those who are used to eating rice, this is incredibly good news. Still, that doesn’t mean that we should stuff ourselves with rice every chance we get. The key to a healthy life, as with most things, is still moderation.
