Surprise your dad with breakfast in bed today! But to make it extra special, why not give him something hearty and delicious at the same time? Save the bacon, the hotdog, and fried eggs for another day. Today, you feast on something healthy!

1. Quinoa porridge

Help your dad eat healthy by serving him quinoa porridge instead of sinangag. This seed, often mistaken for grain, has all the amino acids your body needs and is high in protein. Cook it as you would rice in a saucepan. Add milk, dried fruits, and nuts, and honey for a finishing touch.

2. Ricotta pancakes

If your dad isn’t a fan of milk, he might have a better appreciation for cheese instead. Add the Italian cheese to your pancake mix (make sure to substitute all-purpose flour for whole wheat flour) for a healthier and tastier morning meal.

3. Breakfast parfait

In between layers of yogurt, scoop in the healthy mix of your choice. You can pair blueberries or mangoes with oatmeal or chia seeds--here’s really no set recipe, just as long as you don’t include anything that might induce a long-forgotten allergy!

4. Homemade muesli

Muesli is basically a mixture of uncooked oats, fruits, and nuts. You can probably buy prepackaged muesli at select grocery stores, but why do that when you can custom-make your own? Serve it dry or with yogurt or milk.

5. Fruit smoothie

Cap off a healthy breakfast with a yummy smoothie! Check out which fruits are in season this month and make a yummy and healthy smoothie out of them.
