Let’s say you’re at a family reunion and suddenly all your nosy titas and titos start to bombard you with questions that are too personal to even answer. What would you do? Although it’s true that you can’t just walk out on the conversation, you can avoid the overly intrusive questions people throw at you without having to be rude. Here’s how to deal:

Practice silence.
Sometimes, the best reply to an interfering family member or annoying co-worker is to not reply at all. If someone starts to bring up an issue you don’t want to talk about, simply stay quiet and let the long, awkward pause linger on. Hopefully, the other person gets the message and won’t bother asking about it again. If he's persistent, you can try the next tip below.

Redirect their focus.
When that chatty officemate of yours won’t stop poking on your private life, try redirecting the focus on other things. Bring up topics like current events or something that has nothing to do with your personal life, or turn the tables around and ask about him!

Set boundaries.

You are not required to share every info about yourself to others. You need to set boundaries and be careful of what you share to others. Also, you shouldn’t worry about offending a few people by not opening up—they won't die if they aren't updated with your love life.
