Emotions can manifest in the most physical of ways. Sometimes, they may even result in certain health issues, as a recent feature on NBCNews.com has found. Dr. Karen Lawson, professor of family medicine and community health at the University of Minnesota says, “Emotions are physiological. The idea that our bodies are separate from our feelings is a complete misconception.”
So, how are you feeling today?
“I can’t handle this anymore!”
A burnout is not far from impossible in a society that works beyond shifts and time zones, and this may cause blood sugar imbalance. Serbian researchers say that people who are suffering from high doses of work-related stress are 21 percent more likely to develop diabetes.
The solution? Grit your teeth, and bear it with a smile. Since not all of us can just scream “I quit!” and run off to a faraway island, smiling is the next best thing. According to a University of Kansas study, showing yourself and your colleagues your pearly whites can calm your heart rate.
Negativity can indeed make things worse for you, so why bother dwelling on unpleasant situations? All it takes is a little change in mood, perception, and attitude to help you get through life emotionally and physically healthy.
