If you’re a busy mom, we bet that you get most of your exercise from chasing your kids around the house. Once they grow up, however, you’ll need something else to help you stay in shape. Going to the gym is one option, but you might also want to try exercising on your own. This month, personal trainer Argie Samson of The Peninsula Manila shares a few easy exercises for moms who want to be fit.


1. STEP UP WITH LEG CURL

Step 1: Stand straight before a sturdy step bench or a step on the stairs.


Step 2: Place one foot on the step bench.

Step 3: As you press down with your foot, lift the other and curl it backward. Repeat.

2. HIP ABDUCTION


Step 1: Stand straight, and extend one hand to support yourself on a wall or a handrail.


Step 2: Lift your opposite leg sideways as high as you can.

3. FIRE HYDRANT

Step 1: Assume a quadruped (all fours) position. Keep your arms and your back straight.


Step 2: Raise one leg outward.


Step 3: Kick sideways.

4. MODIFIED PUSH-UP

Step 1: Lie down on your belly before pushing up to a modified push-up position. Keep your lower back straight, and your hips properly aligned.


Step 2: Push down for a quick push-up and repeat.

5. SUPERMAN

Step 1: Lie down on your belly, and stretch your hands and legs out as if you’re flying.


Step 2: Lift one arm and an opposite leg up; don’t let them touch the floor to maintain tension and repeat.
