Before she left for Europe with her sons Josh and Bimby, Kris Aquino first expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her in her legal battle against her ex-husband, basketball player James Yap.

“Sa totoo lang, sobra naman akong na-overwhelmed sa pagmamahal na ipinakita sa akin ng pamilya ko, mga totoong kaibigan namin, mga katrabaho ko, tagahanga ko. Ramdam na ramdam ko naman talaga,” she was quoted by PEP.ph as saying on the March 24 episode of The Buzz.

Kris was especially thankful to her sisters, who were by her side when she announced her resignation.

“I have to say, they did much more than it ever required of any sisters,” she said. “'Yung pamilya kasi namin, sa dami na ng pinagdaanan (With everything our family has gone through), we stood strong because we have each other.”

However, she clarified that her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, never got involved in her issues.“I don’t want it ever said [that] who he is will influence what will come out after the hearing,” she said. “Although, nangamusta siya sa mga bata, pero 'yung personal na pag-uusap, ayoko talaga kasi kawawa siya. At ayokong makaragdag sa mga problema (Although he asks how the kids are doing, but I don’t like to get him involved in personal issues because he already got a lot on his plate. I don’t want to add to his problems.).”

As for her plans post-resignation plans, Kris admitted that she is thinking of going back to school.

“Hindi ko alam, pero gusto ko talagang mag-aral,” she shared. “I kept telling Attorney [Frank] Chavez noong binabasa ko yung mga law,' yung mga ganun-gano'n, I should have been a lawyer. Sabi niya, ‘You can be.’ (I don’t know, but I want to study again. I kept telling Attorney Chavez when I was reading the law that I should have been a lawyer. He said, ‘You can be.’). It will only take five years even with the schedules daw. Isa 'yan sa mga options ko (That’s one of my options.).”
