After being hounded by controversy this year when she revealed she was pregnant and refused to name the father, 21-year-old actress Andi Eigenmann gave birth to a healthy baby girl on November 23 and called her Adriana Gabrielli.
In an 11-page spread in the January 2012 issue of YES! Magazine, Andi gives readers a first glimpse of baby Elle, as she's nicknamed her, in full-color photos taken five days after she was born. Andi also sat down with YES! for an interview just a few days before she gave birth, in which she opened up about her pregnancy, her love life, and her hopes for the future.
The feature has Andi looking back at her journey to motherhood--from the day she discovered she was pregnant to her first days as a new mom. While she still withheld the name of her baby's father--rumored to be actor Albie Casiño, especially after Andi once mentioned him in an entry on her Posterous.com blog--she was generous with the other details of her pregnacy.
She recalled how she and the baby father were together when they had the pregnancy test done and how he suddenly disappeared from her life after they found out for certain that she was with child. "Sabi niya, 'Basta pag tapos nating ayusin 'yang problema na 'yan, ayoko na.' (He said, 'As soon as we finish fixing this problem, I don't want to be in this relationship anymore.') Sabi niya, 'I don't want to be a part of your life anymore.'"
Albie's family earlier offered to have a DNA test done after the baby was born, but Andi said they had no right to do this. "Anong gagawin nila kapag na-prove na positive, kapag na-prove na sa kanila nga--kasali sila? Hindi, no! Ano ka? Pagkatapos nila akong i-judge? (What will they do if the results come out positive? If it gets proven that its theirs--they'll just include themselves in her life? No way! Who do they think they are? When they judged me before?)"
Should the father decide to take an interest in Elle in the future, Andi said it would be unfair. "Ano, papakahirap muna ako, at pag wala na 'yong paghihirap, pag cute na si Elle, pag nabuo ko na siya nang maayos, 'tsaka ka lang nandiyan? (So I'll suffer first, then after I'm done suffering, when Elle is cute, when I've raised her well, then he'll suddenly appear?)"
But, in the end, she added that she won't deprive Elle of her right to see her father even if he wasn't there when she needed him. "Kawawa naman [si Elle]. She has the right to meet her dad, so I'm just hoping for that, diba? 'Yon, parang maganda lang, wishful thinking lang. You deserve to know your whole history completely, not just my side."
Nevertheless, Andi said she'll be all right taking care of Elle on her own. "I can just try my best and make sure that I won't give her a reason to need her real dad."
