Actress Demi Moore announced that she would be divorcing her husband of six years, Ashton Kutcher, on Thursday, November 17, reports The Daily Mail.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) quotes the statement Demi issued through her publicist: "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."
This comes on the heels of the alleged one-night stand 33-year-old Ashton shared with partygirl Sara Leal, 22, on September 24 of this year, the night of the actor’s sixth wedding anniversary to Demi, 49. According to The Daily Mail, Ashton had previously been accused of infidelity—21-year-old Brittney Jones claimed she had had sex with the actor last year; his wife was away at the time.
On the subject of his divorce, Ashton tweeted the following a few minutes after Demi’s announcement: “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK.”
