Word of actress Liezl Martinez’s health deteriorating first appeared on May 12 when news outlets stated that her cancer has spread to her lungs, ABS-CBNNews.com reports. Liezl has been battling breast cancer for three years now, and she admitted in December 2010 that her cancer was in remission. The speculations began when her daughter, Alyanna, Tweeted on March 8 that Liezl was going to undergo a biopsy. Liezl and other immediate family members chose not to comment on the news. Two weeks later, Alyanna talked to Showbiz News Ngayon to clarify the reports on her mom’s health. “No. She just had an operation to drain the fluid in her lungs. It was just a precaution. She’s okay now. She’s resting,” she is quoted as saying on ABS-CBNNews.com.
“I’m sorry I made people worry. I forgot that a lot of people follow me but I didn’t know. I really just meant it like I just wanted to share. I like to rant on Twitter, I like to share whatever I’m feeling. So maybe I shouldn’t be as emotional on Twitter at times,” she added.
We're glad that this turned out well for Liezl, but cancer is something that has become a much-talked-about issue for many and, unfortunately, something with which others have become more intimately acquainted once diagnosed in themselves or the people they know.
