Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi, has officially been declared as Miss Universe 2019. She bested 90 contestants for the coveted title, including our own Miss Philippines, Gazini Ganados, who made it as far as the Top 20.
Aside from the responsibility of representing not just the world, but the universe rather, Miss Universe 2019 will be taking home a prize package worth millions.
The first prize she received was the chance to wear the brand new Mouawad Crown, also known as the Power of Unity Crown, designed by the new jeweler of the Miss Universe Organization, Mouawad Jewelry. The crown features a 62.82 carat Golden Canary Diamond in the center, crafted in 18-karat gold that holds more than 1,770 diamonds. In total, Miss Universe 2019 carried jewels worth $5 million or P254 million on her head.
But the crown will only be loaned to Miss Universe 2019 for occasions that will require her to wear it. Her other prizes as Miss Universe 2019 include living in New York for a year until the title is passed to her successor, Miss Universe 2020. This includes an all-expense-paid stay in the Miss Universe apartment in New York City, which she's expected to share with Miss USA 2019.
The one-year stay in New York City comes with an undisclosed salary that's suspected to be more than Miss America's six-figure salary. The Miss Universe Organization is known for being tight-lipped on the full list of Miss Universe prizes, but if this year's prizes will be similar to that of previous winners, Miss Universe 2019 will be given a year's supply of makeup, hair products, shoes, clothing, jewelry, and skincare provided by organization sponsors. This year's sponsors include: Sherri Hill, Chi Haircare, OP Makeup, and Olivia Quido Skin Care.
She'll also be given a modeling portfolio shot by world famous photographers, fully sponsored travel privileges, professional personal styling, and professional health, nutrition, and dermatology consultations. Did we mention the free dental?
She'll also have exclusive access to events, parties, premieres, screenings, and even casting opportunities.
For one year, Miss Universe 2019 will be living the high life, and it'll only be a stepping stone for even more opportunities and endorsements in the future.
Tunzi succeeds Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018.
