Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) has announced that it will be establishing a P1 billion emergency fund for employees as financial support due to the COVID-19 outbreak. JFC chairman and founder Tony Tan Caktiong says the health crisis has challenged JFC in ways never seen before.
"In these times, we know how people are worrying about their safety and how to take care of their families. We want to help lessen their worries and we are setting up this fund to help them through this difficult time. We are moved by how different individuals and sectors are taking action to help one another and we are one with them in supporting the government as we fight COVID together. We will overcome these challenges together," says Tan Caktiong.
The emergency fund covers all work teams of JFC's offices, stores, commissaries, and logistics centers. It will also cover partner employers in both stores and sites, as well as senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Employees will receive a full month's salary within the duration of March 15 to April 15, including 13th months pay by April 30. Not just that, those affected may convert leave credits and file for personal leaves during the outbreak.
JFC has also donated P100 million worth of food to health workers and frontliners. The company's efforts to support its employees are particularly notable after its monumental losses related to the purchase of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
