Online seller Ricca Del Rosario is one of the many business owners who had to pivot quickly during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Nagtitinda ako ng mga damit at skincare," she tells Summit Video Originals. "Nung nangyari yung pandemic, parang lahat huminto."
Ricca and her husband decided to start a food business called Jaco's Ulam Drive-Thru. It's the first 'ulam drive-thru' in the Philippines!
"Isang gabi, pauwi kami, gusto namin ng masarap na pagkain tapos puro nalang fast food lahat na madadaanan namin na drive-thru eh tamad na kami bumaba—wala pang pandemic during that time," she recalls. "Out of the blue lang, naisip namin [paano] kaya kung may drive-thru ng mga lutong ulam like mga carinderia-type ng mga paborito naming Filipino [dishes]?"
Located at McArthur Highway, Malolos, Bulacan, Jaco's Ulam Drive-Thru offers carinderia-style ulam like Dinuguan, Bistek, Kalderetang Baka, Kare-Kare, and more.
"Medyo nagkaroon kami ng magandang-magandang fallback kasi 'pag food, talagang hindi siya mawawala kahit ano mangyari. Kailangan lang talaga laging nag-aadjust," she shares.
