Have you ordered your flowers, wrapped your gift boxes, and booked your usual table at Mom’s favorite restaurant? Mother’s Day is only a week away, and we’re sure a lot of you are bustling with preparations!
But if you don’t have the time (or the funds) to celebrate in a big way, don’t fret—as our mothers always told us, it’s the thought that counts. In need of a simple but significant token? A card might seem commonplace, but more often than not, what it says is more meaningful than any pile of presents.
Artist JOSE JOSE, whose work has been seen on FN a number of times, has just released a unique array of cards with writer Sara Dumaup. Called “Faces of Love: A Mother’s Day Collection,” the designs pair hand-drawn sketches with poignant messages in a back-to-back postcard format.
“The drawings for this series were inspired by a lot of vintage photography and iconography; I really wanted the cards to have a nostalgia to them,” JOSE JOSE shares in his blog. Asked what he would write on his own card for his mom, the artist tells FN, "I would say that I hope to do even half as good with my own son as she did for my siblings and I."
Each card measures 8.5 x 5.5 inches and comes with its own envelope. The cards are available at Fully Booked branches in Serendra, Power Plant Mall, and Greenbelt 5 and cost P55 each. For any inquiries, send an email to j@josejoseblog.com.
