“All our lives, we’ve been moving around,” reveals the homeowner, who runs a company specializing in marketing. She says she has lived in about nine different places her whole life, five since she got married, and varying circumstances forced her family to move over the years.
After her family’s fourth residence, the mother of two was intent on getting a place of their own. “It’s so hard, traumatizing,” she says about the constant moves. “I didn’t want to subject the kids [to it] anymore.” She tells Real Living how, years ago, the family visited the subdivision where they currently live, and her daughter declared,” Wow! I want to live here!” Every day, the little girl would pray that they would move into her dream home, while her parents were concerned that she would just be disappointed. But fast forward to 2007, and their daughter’s prayers were somehow answered. “Before we knew it, we were moving in!” says the homeowner.
While their new home was indeed a blessing, it still wasn’t the end of their problems. The main issues they had to address were the layout and the clutter. Designer Kathryn T. Villanueva, who worked on a previous makeover came to their rescue, working with what the couple had and making some tweaks that spelled a huge difference.
