Stop caring about what other people think.
Have you ever been traumatized after being judged for raising your opinion? The reason why most people are afraid to speak up is because of their fear of what others will think of them. The thought of being criticized urges them to stay still and be quiet about the issue. Don't try please everyone else because if you do, you’ll end up being stuck in a box. Voice out your opinion, make mistakes, and learn from them.
Go out of your comfort zone.
All you need to do is to take a big leap of faith. Don’t be afraid to take risks and go out of your comfort zone. Do something you’ve never imagined doing and own up to it—there is just something so liberating about it. You can change your look, dye your hair, or even talk to that cute guy from the other department. Anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.
Learn to accept your flaws.
Don’t let your imperfections be a constant chip on your shoulder, embrace them and learn how you can turn them into your strengths. If you care too much about your weaknesses, insecurity will start to seep in and before you know it, you become more timid and less active during social interactions.
Talk to your friends about it.
If you think that you can’t figure it all on your own, lean on your friends and family members for support. Talk to them about your insecurities and work around how you can overcome them. There’s nothing more comforting than having someone to talk to when it comes to these things.
