Most of us think we’re eating right, but in reality, we’re regularly consuming high-glycemic foods. These can range from processed foods like packed junk food to those that are normally considered healthy such as potatoes.
According to Today.com, researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles, Oxford University in the UK, and others analyzed 24 studies published since 1997 that looked at that the diets of 125,000 adults. They found that the average adult eats approximately 139 grams of sugar daily. They also discovered that every 100-gram increase in sugar per 2,000 calories boosts diabetes risk by 45 percent.
A simple solution is to be wise about what you eat. A ripe banana, for example, has higher sugar content than a green one. Similarly, an uncooked sweet potato is healthier than a cooked one.
