Better make sure to get enough beauty rest, as according to Huffington Post, not getting enough ZZZs may affect the way you look.
In a small study recently published in the journal Sleep, researchers from Stockholm University in Sweden took photographs of 10 individuals after eight hours of sleep and after 31 hours without sleep. Another group of participants reviewed the photos and rated them based on how fatigued the subjects looked.
Unsurprisingly, the photographs taken after the subjects went for more than a day without sleep had a pale complexion and dark circles beneath their eyes. However, sleep deprivation affects more than just your looks; it may also affect how other people treat you. "Since faces contain a lot of information on which humans base their interactions with each other, how fatigued a person appears may affect how others behave towards them," researcher Tina Sundelin, M.Sc., says.
So if you're wondering why the people around you keep on asking if you're okay, chances are, you look like you need more sleep. Get yourself ample rest. You'll feel and look much better once you do.
