Think about your life's key moments so far: Flowers have been a part of most of your special occasions. Valentine's Day, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, weddings, and even on the rare instance that you were hospitalized-flowers were involved. And we bet not once did you feel horrible after being given a fresh bouquet

Flowers actually have a pretty deep impact on your health. The American Society for Horticulture Science conducted a study involving 90 hospital patients. The patients were divided into two types of rooms: one with flowers and plants and another without.

Those patients who were surrounded by foliage experienced lower blood pressure, steadier heart rates, lower pain levels, anxiety, and fatigue, and generally more positive feelings than those in bare rooms. Of course, we shouldn't only rely on flowers as a form of therapy or even think of them as the ultimate cure to whatever we're going through. They should just be seen as "complementary medicine."

We suggest buying a fresh bouquet on your way home today, but until then, here are photos of gorgeous flowers to tide you over.
