Results from a Fourth Quarter 2010 survey from the Social Weather Station show that more than half of Filipinos (51 percent) would choose someone “ugly but rich” for their life partner instead of someone “good-looking but poor.” (46 percent)According to the figures shown on Inquirer.net, women would rather be with “a person who is ugly but rich” (57 percent) rather than “good-looking but poor” (41 percent). The preference for wealth over looks was high for all age groups, with the youngest age bracket (18-24 years old) scoring the highest at 71 percent.
Meanwhile, 52 percent of male respondents said they would choose good looks over money. The results varied over age brackets, however, with men 55 years old and above (60 percent), 45 to 54 years (54 percent), and 18 to 24 years (56 percent) all preferring someone good-looking but poor, while those aged 25 to 34 chose someone ugly but rich (53 percent.)
As for being happy with their love lives, more than half of Filipinos (55 percent) said they were “very happy” while 34 percent said “it could be happier.” Married individuals scored highest on the happiness scale with 64 percent of them saying they were “very happy.” Meanwhile, 43 percent of those with a live-in partner and 33 percent of singles expressed the same feelings.
