Beating a red light is one of the most dangerous and illegal things a motorist can do. So when Sol Botilla, a 10-year traffic enforcer from Quezon City, apprehended a driver for violating the law, it was just another day at the office. But it turns out that the person behind the wheel was none other than QC mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista.
A report from Inquirer.net stated that Bistek acknowledged his mistake, and the Monday after the incident, rewarded the traffic cop with a promotion and P10,000.
Opinions are divided on this issue; some people say that Mayor Bautista is spinning this story to his benefit, to deflect attention from the fact that he did run a red light. Others are singing him praises, saying that he did a good job by commending Botilla.
