Metro Rail Transit (MRT) operations were temporarily halted on the morning of May 8 when a man reportedly jumped onto the train tracks at the Guadalupe station.

In a report on ABS-CBNNews.com, Makati police chief Manuel Lucban said that the man jumped in front of an arriving train at 8:18 A.M. and was dragged by the vehicle for 30 more meters. Police officers and rescue teams have since retrieved the mangled body.

Because of the incident, hundreds of passengers were forced to alight from the trains to take other means of transportation, worsening the traffic situation along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

The MRT was also only operational from the North Ave. to Shaw Boulevard stations for a few hours. Normal operations only resumed at 11:30 A.M.
