If there's any good reason to head to Alabang, it's those restaurants that you won't find anywhere else. One of those Alabang-exclusive restaurants (the only other branch is all the way over in Cebu) is Da Gianni, a quaint Italian restaurant with an alfresco dining area, in Westgate Hub.
Da Gianni is a trattoria built by Gianluca Guidicelli in honor of Gianni Guidicelli, his father, who passed away in 2016. Just in case you are wondering: yes, celebrity Matteo Guidicelli is also connected to this Italian family-owned restaurant. Matteo is the grandson of Gianni, plus he also helps out his dad, Gianluca, managing the restaurant.
If you ever find yourself in the area, you should definitely try Da Gianni's Tiramisu, which is available every day for P320/veneziano (single-serving) or P490/espresso (for sharing; and will be prepared on your table). Their version of this classic Italian dessert is made with layers of coffee-soaked Saviorani ladyfingers, topped with a mountain of delicious, sweet mascarpone, and then dusted off with cacao and fragrant lemon rind. It has the perfect balance of sweet, milky, and nutty, while the added lemon rind gives it bright flavors
If you're a fan of Italian coffee, you should pair the tiramisu with Da Gianni's Con Panna (P130), too. This type of espresso always comes in a demitasse cup and is topped with whipped cream. The biscotti that comes with it is actually very delicious, but unfortunately, it isn't sold separately. We're crossing our fingers they will soon, though!
