rev_it_up_running_inside.jpgRunning is sport du jour, and for good reason. With the right information and the basic gear, anyone can take it up. This includes people working on every fitness level, from the reformed couch potatoes to the high-intensity adventure racers. But the right mindset and high-tech running shoes are just a couple of things that will add more to this fitness regimen. Check out these tips and you'll be joining marathos in no time!

1. Do the high-knee-sprint move.

Have a go at jogging with high knees, then sprint. After a while, do the high-knee jog again, and then sprint again. Try a variety of strides to find the most comfortable while moving fast. You should be moving smoothly rather than thumping the ground.

2. Vary places.

Find tracks in different terrains or landscapes. Get out in the field. Go to a golf course, but avoid running on a concrete road, as this surface is too stressful on the joints. If you’re using a treadmill, increase the incline to make the workout harder. It may also help to build up your speed for when you go running outdoors.

3. If the shoe fits, wear it.

Wear good running shoes. Most shoes will not last for more than half a year. Using them longer than that may increase your risk of injury.
