yup sis, but I've accepted it..Maybe God knew that I can buy a laptop on my own someday that's why it wasn't given to me before..there's more to life than dwelling on unhappy memories..as they say, happiness is a choice.. hope u'd overcome that depressing feeling eventually.. I try to always think positive because I know it would do wonders on my thoughts, feelings and actions..who has no problems anyways?..we all have, the difference is on how we deal with it..Yup, my workmates also tell that I've got this contagious tendency to be very optimistic..I hope you'd feel better knowing that many of us share same sentiment on not having a debut party =)

I didn't have a debut party either and it was okay with me. Like what other sisses said, just plan something big for your 30th. That's what I'm doing on my 31st (31 being a special number to me). Cheer up!

Never had one and I don't regret it because for me, what exactly is it for?

Orginally the purpose of a coming out party was to present the debutante to eligible males with the main goal of getting married (they used to call it the marriage mart).  Nowadays, it's not exactly wise to get married until after you've finished college.

Also, in western countries, turning 18 signifies that you can now be independent, leave home and do whatever you want.  In our country, most can't afford to do that at 18 and I sincerely doubt parents will allow their teenagers to start living-in with their boyfriends/girlfriends.

So for me, a debut party is just a lavish birthday party and nothing else.  You can have that type of party at any age - up to you to decide when.

Didn't have a debut party either, I remember lang na may mom gave me 200 pesos that day. I just told my friends to buy their burgers and akong bahala sa frostry sa Wendy's ;D P18 lang yata that time.

I didn't have a big debut as well but I didn't mind it. In fact, my parents and my sister wanted me to have a celebration na may 18 roses and all those ceremonies but I insisted on having a very simple party lang with relatives and friends. :) I really couldn't bear the thought of spending big bucks in just 1 night. I didn't want my parents to spend on me so I was very okay with it.

Please do not be depressed. The essence of your coming-of-age didn't depend on the kind of party you had or the lack of it. It's like wedding and marriage. The goodness of your marriage doesn't depend on how "bongga" or luxurious your wedding is. :)

Also, I forgot to add na if you really want a big celebration, you can still celebrate a big birthday every year. If you're turning 27, then why not try 27 roses and 27 candles kung yan talaga ang bet mo ;) Katulad na lang ng mga nagrerenew ng vows, diba? It's never too late. :)

I didn't had my debut too, we just ate outside together with a couple of friends and my family of course and satisfied na ako dun kasi, ako mismo ang nagsuggest not to spend much for my 18th birthday.

^You can do it sis. :)

Just remind yourself that it's not that important and that there are far more valuable things you should be dwelling on. :)

^^ Kaya mo yan sis :) when I feel sad, iniisip ko palagi, life is short, and I only live once. The more time I spend on feeling sad, the more time ang nawawala for me to make the most of my life :)

Hi leihin,

I know there are worse things out there and I feel guilty about that but when I think about it again, all of the sadness comes back.

Thanks for your positivity.

ako, as in totally walang handa.

haven't experienced this, as in yung meron 18 roses etc. but i'm not bitter at all..i don't know, maybe because that time hindi naman kami ganun ka-rich for my parents to provide me that kind of celebration at isa pa ako din nagsabi sa kanila na ayaw ko kasi gusto ko i-save yun for my education na lang mas sulit pa :)

pero happy pa rin dahil parang may kasalan sa dami ng relatives na dumating including yung mga nasa province kaya i don't have any reason to get bitter kasi importante i spent my very special day with those who are special to me..^^
