I was born and raised in this country, and I’ve never celebrated Thanksgiving—although I know a lot of holiday-holics who do.

There are only two things I actually know about Thanksgiving. First, it involves eating a lot of turkey—the secret recipe of which has been passed down from one’s great-great-great-grandmother (or something along those lines).

Second, as the name suggests, this holiday is a time to give thanks for the things one has been blessed with—as the American pioneers celebrated a good harvest in historical times. So sayeth Wikipedia, at least!

I’m not big on turkey, but the “thanksgiving” aspect of Thanksgiving is something I can appreciate. It’s a lovely tradition, really—you get to reunite with family and friends, savor a delicious meal together, and reflect on the good things in life. It’s like Christmas, minus the gifts.

I’m told that Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November—and that’s today! So in the spirit of things, I’ve decided to make a list of all the fashion and beauty items that I’m grateful for. Each garment, cosmetic, or grooming practice I’ve mentioned is something that I consider a personal blessing—and I’m sure some of your own choices will overlap with mine.
