Here we go again! December not only signals the hurtling approach of Christmas—three more days!—but it also marks the end of a style annum. It’s that time of year when we tally up the best in fashion, especially when it comes to our favorite celebs.
Fashion and showbiz are sister industries—the first enforces the glamorous celebrity persona, while the second makes stars of designers, stylists, and models. You can hardly have one without the other. Now, with blogger power and the circles touched by its concentric ripples, non-showbiz fashionistas are also able to meet the spotlight. Today’s celebrity style scene is populated with famous folks who are stylish, as well as stylephiles who have become famous.
In any case, this week’s column centers on celebrity fashion. This isn’t a best dressed list per se, where I count down the most well-heeled showbiz personalities of 2011; rather, it’s a catalogue of great looks I’ve seen on celebs this past year. Naturally, that includes a few regulars of the style circuit—they aren’t called “celebrity fashionistas” for nothing—but my true goal is to pinpoint impressive sartorial choices and commend the stars who made them.
