If there's any time of year when it's perfectly acceptable to go all out in the fashion and makeup department, it's the holidays. Sequined dresses, rich jewel tones, sparkly footwear—all these are but the norm for the festive merrymaking the season brings. But while you may already have the perfect outfit hanging in your closet, the prettifying simply doesn't stop there. There, too, is the all-important aspect of your face—which will pretty much be the first thing people will look at once you step into the room.

For a minute, however, let's forget about the minimal makeup you don on regular days. The yuletide season, after all, is about amping the glamor and taking things up a notch. One of our favorite makeup looks that does just that? Two words: Old Hollywood. Think Dita von Teese and her alluring winged eyes or Scarlett Johansson and those delectable red lips. With makeup this captivating, you'd wish everyday was a reason for celebration.
