Our favorite celebrities may have the time and luxury to make multiple outfit changes in a day (paparazzi photos claim proof to this), but we normal women often just have too much on our plate. Not that we don't toy with the idea; we've heard of situations where friends attempt to make a mad dash home just so they can change out of their office attire and into something more cocktail-ready. Either that, or they use their cars or bump around in tiny public bathrooms to change into the dressier outfit they packed beforehand. Clever? Sure. Practical? No.

The trick, then, is to start the day in a look that you can easily transition to suit your evening affairs—a pair of heels here, a glitzy clutch there. You should also bear in mind that "evening" doesn't necessarily translate to "formal." Instead, the operative word should be "polished." Strive for that, and your friends will be none the wiser.
