SM Department Store has been upping its fashion ante in the past few years. A meticulous trawl through its floors was once required in order to come across tasteful, on-trend pieces, but nowadays, each level of the department store is a treasure trove of stylish items at reasonable prices. From Rajo Laurel-designed shoes to accessories that could rival those in high street boutiques, SM's spot-on goods are certainly worth battling the crowds for.

And its Holiday 2012 collection for SM Ladies, which was showcased during Philippine Fashion Week, just underscores the shopping giant's thrust for ready-to-wear offerings that echo the looks featured in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. The show started off with dainty pastel dresses and shorts that sweetly reference Spring/Summer 2012's penchant for delicate femininity. It then transitioned to bolder, brighter hues and a smattering of prints that recall the heady days of summer—yet will still be current come the cool, breezy days of the -ber months. The energetic colors then paved the way for architectural designs in striking black and white before bowing down to preppy, color-block ensembles perfect for the corporate world. Of course, no holiday line-up is complete without party-ready dresses, sparkly fabrics, and sexy sheer panels. And the gorgeous red gown worn by statuesque top model Ria Bolivar ended the show perfectly.
