article_office-party-fashion.jpgYes, it's the holidays. Yes, you'd want nothing more than to break out that bodycon dress and those glittery heels. But your office party is still an office party, and you have to adhere to some clothing etiquette. After all, the last thing you would want is to be that girl who gets a memo from HR or who gave her bosses the wrong idea.

Read on for five tips for dressing for your office Christmas party:

1. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF ACCESSORIES.
Accessories are pretty safe territory. Fancy adding a statement necklace over your blouse? Go right ahead. Want to swap your discreet pearls for some chandelier earrings? There's no reason why you can't. Just avoid looking like a Christmas tree by going for just one kind of statement jewelry.

2. STAY CLEAR OF REVEALING CLOTHING.
This being a professional setting, it is absolutely important that you don't show up looking like you're headed to a club. No plunging necklines, no mini skirts, and no sheer panels or cutouts. Basically, don't wear anything you wouldn't wear to meet your boyfriend's parents.

3. INJECT SOME COLOR INTO YOUR OUTFIT.
You may still have to follow the office dress code, but that doesn't mean you can't have a bit of fun. Rich jewel tones like garnet and amethyst are decidedly festive and work well on structured dresses and tailored pants.

4. DON'T WEAR ANYTHING THAT WILL RAISE BROWS.
Tiny skirts and crop tops aside, tops with unconventional statements and lewd graphics should be avoided. Never mind if you want to show off your personality; you wouldn't want to offend anyone with the things scrawled over your chest.

5. WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, THROW ON AN LBD.
You really cannot go wrong with this timeless piece. Just go for one that hits your knee, offers coverage (nothing plunging, backless, or sheer), and has a shape but isn't clingy. Think Audrey Hepburn, not Ke$ha.
