We’ve probably encountered students who are overachievers; they may even be our own children. But it’s important to note that having an excellent academic record cannot be attributed to good genes alone. Academic, musical, and artistic intelligence are, in part, hereditary. However, we cannot discount the impact of a child’s surroundings, such as family upbringing and school environment.
