Singer Zayn Malik and supermodel Gigi Hadid have reportedly called it quits.
The Hollywood ‘it-couple’ began dating last November, but new rumors suggest its brief romance has come to an end.
However, a source tells E! News there’s a possibility they’ll be locking lips once again very soon.
“Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow,” the insider claims. “It’s all very unclear what’s going on between them now. They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.”
Gigi turned 21 years old on 23 April and she celebrated the milestone age with a beach bash attended by Zayn and their mutual families, including her sister Bella Hadid and her mother Yolanda Foster. Although the pair appeared to be having fun in the sun during the special occasion, they were allegedly battling behind the scenes.
“During her birthday they were fighting,” the source claims, adding they have “broken up and got back together a few times” throughout their relationship.
“Gigi is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like to work it out,” the insider adds. “It’s more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close.”
The couple has been inseparable in the past few months and Closer reported in May they were even considering shacking up together, but apparently Gigi’s mother Yolanda was unhappy with the prospect.
“He knows that Yolanda is a big part of Gigi’s life, but when he heard she’d warned Gigi not to get engaged for at least a year it got his back up. He feels like she’s interfering,” the source said.
“Gigi is torn. She’s desperate to live with Zayn and show the world they’re serious about each other, but she understands why her mom is worried that Zayn’s rushing into things.”
Zayn and Gigi fell in love while filming the music video for his single Pillowtalk, which featured several steamy scenes of them passionately kissing each other.
The catwalk star got into a relationship with the former One Direction singer just weeks after she ended her five-month relationship with DNCE frontman Joe Jonas. Before dating Gigi, Zayn was engaged to wed Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards.
