Governor Vilma Santos said her son, TV host Luis Manzano, is not yet ready to run for mayor of Lipa City in 2013, reports. "Nothing is final, pero parang sa tingin ko, hindi siya naghahanda for that (Nothing is final, but I don't think he's planning to do that)," she is quoted as saying.

The Star for All Seasons added that entering politics isn't easy. "Pinaghahandaan kasi ito (This is something you prepare for)," she said. "Sa tingin ko, hindi pa. Pag-aralan muna niya. 'Yan ang maipapayo ko sa anak ko. (In my opinion, he's not ready. He should learn first. That's my advice for my son.)"

Luis first brought up the possibility of running for office in September 2011 in an interview with "Never ko namang isinara 'yong pinto ko pagdating sa politika. Ang gusto ko lang talaga, tamang oras. (I never said I was closing the door to politics. I just want it to be at the right time.)"

He said once he was ready, he would choose to serve Lipa City. "Kasi napakaganda ng nasimulan ni Mommy sa Lipa. Second, siguro alam naman ng mga Lipeño na hindi ako gagawa ng kahit na anong kalokohan na ikasisira ng pangalan namin. At saka mahal ko ang Lipa. ([I'd want to run in Lipa City] because my mom already made a good start there. Second, I think the people of Lipa know I won't do anything that will ruin our name. Also, I love Lipa.)"
