Actor Tyron Perez, a first batch alumnus of reality talent search Starstruck, was found dead in a Toyota Altis on December 29, PEP.ph reports. Police are currently looking at his death as a possible suicide. He sustained a "self-inflicted" gunshot wound to the head, authorities said.
Tyron's wife, Liv, said she was on the phone with him when the incident happened. He allegedly told Liv that he was going to kill himself. She thought it was a joke, but she heard the gunshot on the phone soon after. She also admitted that she and Tyron previously had marital problems because of his gambling.
Meanwhile, Tyron's batchmates on StarStruck expressed their condolences. Yasmien Kurdi, Mark Herras, Sheena Halili, Christian Esteban, and Alvin Aragon guested on Startalk TX on December 31. They revealed that Tyron wanted to have a reunion, but their conflicting schedules prevented them from getting all of them together.
Christian, who was Tyron's closest friend, said that while this did not happen, some of them did have dinner with him four months ago. Besides Christian, Cristine Reyes and Jade Lopez were also with him.
At the end of the interview, the stars left messages of love and gratitude for Tyron.
"Lahat tayo tao, tao lang tayo. We all have problems, and we all go through things pero he was in a dark place. He needed somebody; he needed a friend, so Tyron wants us to be happy. Alam ko yun, and I bet you anything in the world he wishes to be here today," Christian is quoted as saying on PEP.ph.
Sheena said they would strive hard to make the StarStruck reunion happen. "Wala akong kuya; ikaw ang kuya ko (I don't have an elder brother. You are my elder brother.)," she said. "Kahit nagkalayu-layo na tayo ngayon na wala ka na at nire-request mo ang reunion na yan, sana gagawin namin ang lahat para mabuo ang batch 1. Yung request mo, gagawin namin yan. (Even though we'll be apart now that you're gone, you requested a reunion, and we'll do our best to get batch 1 together.)"
