Actress and TV host Ruffa Gutierrez couldn't resist giving cab driver Ariel Dalangin a big hug when she arrived at the dzMM Teleradyo station on July 20 to retrieve six pairs of shoes her personal assistant, Jimmy, left behind in his taxi, PEP.ph reports. "Nakakatuwa lang na may mga taxi driver pa pala na katulad ni Mr. Ariel Dalangin, na honest at mabait na nagsosoli ng mga naiwan sa kanilang taxi (It's great to learn there are still taxi drivers like Mr. Dalangin, kind drivers who return things their passengers left behind in their taxis)," she is quoted as saying in an interview with PEP.ph. "Maraming salamat kay Mr. Ariel sa pagsoli ng mga shoes ko. Feeling ko tuloy ay ako si Cinderella na nawalan ng sapatos at naisaoli! (Thanks for returning my shoes, Mr. Ariel. I feel like Cinderella, who lost her shoes and got them back!)"
According to Ruffa, she had her shoes made to order in her size in Hong Kong, which was why she was really fond of them.
When PEP.ph asked Lorin, who accompanied Ruffa to dzMM along with her sister Venice, how she felt now that they got the shoes back, she said, "Happy, because Mommy found her shoes worth $4,000!"
Ruffa was quick to follow up on the statement saying, "Don't say that, Lorin. Nagbigay pa talaga ng presyo! (You even gave a price!) Don't say the price, you have to be discreet. Nakakaloka! (You're making me go crazy!)"
Meanwhile, taxi driver Ariel was surprised at the turn of events, having assumed someone involved in selling shoes had left them behind in his taxi. When no one came to the taxi office to retrieve them, Ariel decided to take matters into his own hands the next day. "Sabi ko, konti lang naman siguro ang kita ng may-ari nito, nakakaawa naman kaya sabi ko isosoli ko na lang through dzMM. (I told myself, the owner of the shoes probably didn't have much income because of this, so I decided to give them back through dzMM.)"
PEP.ph also asked him if Ruffa gave him a reward. Ariel said he received an envelope from her but hadn't opened it yet.
