In an interview with PEP.ph, actor Sam Milby finally talked about the status of his relationship with international singer Marie Digby: “We just decided to be friends.” The long distance relationship never blossomed into love for either of them, he said, and so they mutually decided to break it off.
“Kasi, hindi naman kami naging MU [mutual understanding]. Wala kaming commitment,” he explained. “It was, like, alam niyang gusto ko siya at alam ko na gusto niya ako. Umabot sa ganoon, pero walang commitment. There's no exclusivity sa relationship namin, never. So, it wasn't like breakup or anything like that, kasi not even MU.”
In the meantime, Sam is content with going solo, at least, until love comes knocking on his door again.
Like Sam and Marie, are you and your regular date having doubts about your relationship? Have you ever felt like you had a better relationship before you started going out? Romantic love sometimes stems from great friendship, but what if you and the guy you've been seeing are meant to just stay pals? Check out these signs from Female Network and find out if you have to reevaluate your relationship.
1. THE THINGS YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE TOGETHER ARE THE SAME THINGS YOU WOULD DO EVEN IF YOU WEREN'T
Companionship plays a big part in the success of a relationship. Good friends can turn into good lovers, but if the way you relate to each other remains at the buddy level, it could doom your romance. If nothing changes between the two of you except the label on your relationship, it's time to reflect: what does he really mean to you? What role do you want him to play in your life?
2. WHEN DRESSING FOR AN EVENING OUT, YOU DON'T FEEL PRESSURED TO LOOK YOUR BEST FOR HIM (AND JUST HIM)
Yes, he should love you just the way you are (and if he’s a good man, that’s exactly how it should be!) but when you’re happily in love, you should feel like putting your best foot forward, especially when you’re going out with your main guy. From choosing the right clothes to worrying about your hair, there’s a certain thrill in the flurry of getting ready for a date. If what you’re wearing for your night out with him is what you would wear when going out with friends, do you really think of him as more than a friend?
3. YOU DON'T GET DISAPPOINTED WHEN HE CANCELS ON A DATE
Let’s say you were supposed to go out, but the boss makes him do overtime at work. How do you react? Being too upset is an overreaction, but you should at least feel disappointed your get-together isn’t pushing through. The way you react to the cancellation shouldn’t be the same way you would react to a called off coffee date with a friend--“It’s okay. We can meet next week, anyway” shouldn't cut it.
4. YOU WOULDN'T RATHER SPEND TIME WITH HIM THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD
If you were made to choose between having a candlelit dinner with him and meeting up with your girlfriends, and you choose the latter, it shows that he really isn’t as high on your list of priorities as he should be. Sure, you love spending time with him and you enjoy it, but if you can still name better things to do if you weren’t with him, can you really say he’s the man for you with full conviction?
5. YOU DON'T FEEL ANY JEALOUSY AT THE THOUGHT OF HIM WITH SOMEONE ELSE
Although being too possessive can be suffocating and downright premature during the dating phase, there still should be a little jealousy at the thought of him being with another woman. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re willing to get into a cat fight the next time you see him talking to another girl (in fact, if you do that, you might be branded a jealous girlfriend), but if the thought of him in another woman’s arms doesn’t affect you, it may be time to reevaluate your relationship.
Remember that these are signs, not a confirmation that the two of you aren’t meant to be. And maybe it's just a case of "not yet" rather than "not ever." If you do have doubts about your relationship, the best thing to do is discuss it so that you can get each other’s opinions face-to-face and firsthand. If you think your relationship is in danger of fizzling when it should be sizzling, but still worth keeping, make an effort to save it.
