This year’s Miss Universe 2018 competition proves to be one for the books. Not only did Catriona Gray bring home the crown, the overall competition—the diverse selection of girls, the all-women judge lineup, and the program itself—was something to be remembered. In fact, the organizers paid close attention to all the event’s details, down to the new Miss Universe’s bouquet.
The bouquet was inspired by the Great Naga, a serpent that is a symbol of greatness, abundance, and fate in Thai mythology. Its designer, Phiyawat Meephaithoon of Flow Design wrote in an Instagram post that the said serpent is also depicted as the rainbow staircase to the universe, according to local folklore.
The whole bouquet is made of locally available Thai flowers, like orchids, which Phiyawat finished with crown flower garlands instead of the usual ribbons to make the arrangement look more regal and elegant, fit for the newly-crowned Miss Universe.
