Freddie Roach, boxing champ Manny Pacquiao's trainer, revealed in an interview for the most recent issue of Playboy Magazine that it's typical for boxers to abstain from sex before fights. "We’ve talked to doctors about it. Sex lowers your testosterone, so you’re not as mean. I ask my guys for 10 days," he is reported as saying in Ricky Lo's "Funfare" column in The Philippine Star on November 12. Manny is no stranger to this policy, Roach added. In fact, he goes without sex for 21 days before his fights.
This fact was previously confirmed by Pac-Man's wife, Jinkee Pacquiao, in an interview with The Philippine Star in May 2011 before Manny's fight against Shane Mosley. "Hindi na talaga puwede, bawal na (It's really not allowed)," she is quoted as saying. “Kuwentuhan na lang at hug-hug in bed. What do we talk about? Wala. Yakap-yakap lang hanggang makatulog kami. (We just talk and hug in bed. What do we talk about? Nothing. We cuddle until we fall asleep.)"
Jinkee was present at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 12, Saturday (November 13, Sunday, in Manila), to witness Manny's triumphant bout against Juan Manuel Marquez. This was despite rumors that she would not be going because of previous reports that Pac-Man was having an affair with another woman.
"The fact that Jinkee is here proves that everything is okay between her and Manny," Vicki Belo, a close friend of the couple, told "Funfare" in a text.
