Last March, internationally acclaimed songstress and stage actress Lea Salonga graced the cover of Reader's Digest Asia after ranking second in the Trust Survey, a nationwide poll conducted by the magazine to determine the most trusted public figure in the Philippines. Lea came in at number two, following legendary actress and humanitarian Rosa Rosal, who placed first in the survey results.Upon discovering that she was in the top percentile of trusted Filipino figures, Lea shares that she was “shocked,” as PEP.ph reports. “[Placing second in the Trust Survey is] certainly an honor . . . [but] it was overwhelming to receive that,” says the Tony and Olivier award winner.
Her consistent work ethic and characteristically wholesome image have certainly helped to cement that trust—as a recording artist and product endorser, Lea’s got definite star power. And now that it’s been proven exactly how much faith the Filipino public puts in her, this multi-talented Pinay is putting her influence to good use—she’s asking everyone to vote!
“I want to encourage [people] to vote on May 10, to do what they have to do,” Leah tells PEP.ph. “And I believe that if you don’t vote, you don’t have the right to complain.”
