In an article on PEP.ph published on December 5, basketball player James Yap said that he and his ex-wife, actress-host Kris Aquino, are getting along quite well at the moment.

“Oh, we’re good friends right now,” he was quoted as saying. “Nagdyo-joke kami nang husto… Mas maganda na 'yun dahil nakakapag-usap kami nang hindi na masyadong seryoso… 'yung casual (We joke a lot… This is better because we’re able to talk casually… without being too serious.).”

James also said they would even ask each other about the current state of their love lives, which further confirms the great state of their relationship. “Oo, may mga ganoon,” he said. “Kaya okay talaga 'yung samahan namin (Yes, we talk about that. That’s why our relationship is really okay.).”

However, Kris Aquino refuted James’s statements, saying that they might have only misinterpreted each other. “Ayaw kong magpaka-plastic sa inyo, e (I don’t want to give a false answer.). It’s easy to tell we’re good and all... we’re not,” she had said in a recent interview with PEP.ph. “I think we’re better off having a distance from each other. Kasi nami-misinterpret namin ang isa’t isa (Because we misinterpret each other.).”

“I hold no bitterness in my heart, but I have no desire for any closeness,” she added, refusing to elaborate on her reasons for staying away from James.
