Despite bashers saying that James Yap sold the San Mig Coffee Mixers out during the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) semicup finals, there is one woman who believes he didn’t. According to PEP.ph, Kris Aquino was quick to defend her ex-husband on her show Aquino and Abunda Tonight, just a day after the controversial game.
“Sa matagal na panahon na kilala ko si James Yap, at nakilala ko ang buong pagkatao niya, hindi niya gagawing magbenta ng laro dahil buong buhay niya, ibinuhos niya for that (I’ve known James Yap for a long time, and I know that he absolutely wouldn’t sell a game because he has devoted his life to it),” she was quoted as saying.
James, in turn, was pleasantly surprised by Kris’s words, reports Spin.ph. “Ah, thank you at ipinagtanggol niya ako (I thank her for defending me),” he said.
“Nagulat ako [sa gesture ni Kris], anong meron (I was surprised at Kris’s gesture. What is up?)?”
Although surprised at his ex-wife's actions, James has had dealings with hecklers before, and he has no plans of letting them affect his game.
“Natural 'yan, e. Basta focus ka lang at huwag mo pansinin yung mga nagba-bash (That’s just natural. I just need to focus and ignore those bashers.).”
“Ganun lang, move on, then practice ka lang (That’s all, move on, and simply practice.).”
