Iza Calzado hopes that the bikini costume of Darna will be changed when Star Cinema produces the big-screen adaptation of the komiks character.

During Iza's recent guesting on ANC's Headstart, host Karen Davila pointed out that management has been having a difficult time casting the actress who would become the new Darna.

Iza pointed out: "It's so hard kasi naka-bikini siya. Palitan na kasi ang costume!"

She then cited how Hollywood actresses portrayed superheroes onscreen: "Kailangan ba talagang naka-bikini si Darna? Si Wonder Woman nga naka-one piece, Gal Gadot na 'yon. Captain Marvel's in a full suit."

Iza added that she is not interested in portraying the Pinay superheroine on the big screen: "Not that I want it, but you know it's something that could possibly widen the choices because not everybody will be comfortable [wearing that costume]."

"It's hard to hit that perfect Darna body that they want. In my opinion kasi, it's hard to fight [for] justice in a bikini. Kasi there's a lot of injustice that could happen, hindi ba?"

In 2017, Iza revealed that she almost played Darna when she was still with GMA-7.

In 2005, Angel Locsin was chosen to bring life to Darna in the Kapuso prime-time series.

“That’s my story. I was asked to be Darna even before Angel was asked," said Iza who left the Kapuso Network in 2012.

"Let us not forget that I have lost a hundred pounds, my body is not a conventional body,” said the actress.
